MINE
December 2019
The idea was born out of the necessity of the company to get citizens involved in their mission of protecting the environment by creating awareness regarding waste-management issues. At the same time the company was looking for ways and venues to share gratitude to all those citizens who demonstrated continuous effort and engagament. It is to be intented as a partnership so both company and artist are project holders.
The project aims to bring to the public space (a square, museum, school) a replica of a waste- sorting machine. The idea is to have the project right in the middle of the city where people would come across it and possibly stop and ponder about the importance of the recycling process. It would be a functioning machine with clean waste so that all people, kids included, could play with it.
The project was created to stimulate reflection and social discourse about waste management and enviromental sustainability. The expect results are of increased public environmental awareness to be achieved through artistic interpretation. Art is the instrument to convey the message and capitalizes on its power to touch both the intellectual and emotional spheres.
The SMATH project allowed the company to focus on a very specific idea they had been considering for a while but never managed to bring to life. Next step is the concrete implentation of the project (definite a realistic timing, the location, who is involved, what is the exact expected outcome).
