INTERVIEW

Where did the idea come from ? Who are the project holders ?

Created by Olivia & Sylvain, Studio a2 is the result of the collaboration between two people passionate of editorial design and graphic arts & crafts. With their different and complementary backgrounds, they decided to become entrepreneurs with the aim of raising awareness on local micro-edition.

What do they do ? What’s the project about ?

Halfway between graphic design manufacturing and the local micro printing house, Studio a2 is an editorial factory that wishes to share its knowledge and passion for print & design. For any editorial project, from design work to layout and printing, particularly in risography, support workshops are proposed to artists, creators, cultural structures and entrepreneurs. The animation of pedagogical workshops constitutes the heart of their project in a perspective of cultural transmission and mediation.

Why did they create it ? What kind of impact (social, artistic, innovative,) does the project have?

Committed to micro-publishing and using responsible creative methods, Olivia & Sylvain seek to make artisanal and local production a driving force for the local sustainable development. The initiation workshops will be an opportunity to bring together different audiences in order to raise their awareness of the importance of recognizing local know-how. In addition, the use of a special printer “risograph” makes the project part of an original, new and ecological production approach.

How does the SMATH Project help them? What are the next steps?

The Creative Starter support program is deployed as part of the Toulon-Var Creative Nest and will provide support in the development of their marketing & communication strategy.
