Tinsel Emotion

INTERVIEW

Where did the idea come from ? Who are the project holders ?

Created by Julie & Loïc, Tinsel Emotion is finding new ways to enable people to express their emotions while facing art, for example when visiting museums. Their idea came from the experience they had, during a snowstorm, in the contemporary art museum of Denver entitled “How do you feel in front of artworks?”.

What do they do ? What’s the project about ?

Finding tools for showing and knowing better your emotions is what is being proposed by Tinsel Emotion. They want to welcome people, who are not usual users of cultural places, to enter in and give them the opportunity to express themselves freely. Concretely, the experience can for example start by using colored tassels and putting them in different tubes depending on the feeling felt in front of a work of art. Moreover a digital application is under development to allow visitors to share their feelings, on social networks accounts or on a dedicated platform.

Why did they create it ? What kind of impact (social, artistic, innovative,) does the project have?

In the middle of social and cultural innovation, this project uses an emotional process to gathered people in arts centers in a matter of social cohesion and promotion of culture. Animating collective workshops in galleries or museum in front of children or adults, their project represents a new kind of cultural mediation, innovative & creative.

How does the SMATH Project help them? What are the next steps?

SMATH is helping them in the development of the project with the Creative Starter program proposed within the Toulon Var Creative Nest.
