Where did the idea come from ? Who are the project holders ?
Having studied in the fields of cultural geography and land use planning, Alexandre Telliez-Moreni
was inspired by the influence music has on our lifestyles. He created the Label Toolong Records in
2013 which supports projects mixing geography, music & visual arts.
What do they do ? What’s the project about ?
Focused on pop-rock music, Toolong Records act as a distribution channel and an original tool for
promoting local creativity. With the Toulon-based group LuneApache, which recorded its first album
in 2017, the label is now seeking to operate as a communication tool through the "Varlifornia"
project, an unusual and offbeat documentary, which takes the viewer with the group on a journey
through the Var territory in search of the local California.
Why did they create it ? What kind of impact (social, artistic, innovative,) does the project have?
Varlifornia is original because it links music & geography and promotes the territory in a unique way.
Indeed, by making music production a tool for promoting local talent, this project seeks to anchor
artists on a finer scale of diffusion by offering them new & individualized communication tools.
How does the SMATH Project help them? What are the next steps?
The SMATH project and in particular the Creative Starter will constitute an opportunity of support in
the search for subsidies and on the clarification of the service offer.
